Gree heat pumps in Toronto. The Gree Flexx is a value option for suites, additions and homes where the load calc says it fits, usually with backup heat. We’re straight about where it sits against the cold-climate lines from Mitsubishi, Daikin and Fujitsu. Already own a Gree? We service and repair them, and source the common parts.
Where does Gree Flexx fit?
Not every zone needs a top-tier cold-climate system. Gree Flexx makes sense when:
- The Manual J load is modest: a legal basement suite, a small addition, a granny flat
- There’s backup heat in place, a small strip kit or the main house furnace
- Budget is the priority and the space isn’t the family’s main living area
It’s not our pick for heating a whole detached house through a -25C week with no backup. For that we put in cold-climate heat pumps.
Gree vs the cold-climate lines
| Gree Flexx | Mitsubishi / Daikin / Fujitsu cold-climate | |
|---|---|---|
| Best use | Suites, additions, smaller loads | Whole-home heat |
| Deep cold | Pair with backup heat | 100% capacity at -15C, runs to -30C |
| Price | Lower | Higher |
| Rebates | Only listed models | Listed models |
We price both on one page so the trade-off is clear.
Heart Lake: basement suite
Legal basement suite in a newer Brampton detached that needed its own heat and AC. Gree Flexx ducted to three small rooms with short duct runs, sized by Manual J, with a small strip kit for deep cold. Own thermostat, own breaker. $8,900 installed, five business days quote to running. Single room instead? See mini-split heat pumps.
Gree service and repair
We diagnose and repair existing Gree units: fault codes, boards, sensors, refrigerant leaks and drains. Common parts are sourced quickly. Repair pricing follows our standard heat pump repair list, with a $150-$250 diagnostic.
Gree installs and service run mostly in Brampton and Vaughan, where basement suites are common. Book the load calc and we’ll tell you honestly whether Gree fits.
