Anthony Marino founded Toronto Heat Pump Pros in 2008, back when most Toronto contractors still told homeowners heat pumps didn't work here. They were half right. The mild-climate units being sold at the time did fail in a February cold snap, and the strip heat ran all month. The equipment changed. Inverter-driven cold-climate models from Mitsubishi, Daikin and Fujitsu started holding full capacity at -15C and running to -30C. What didn't change fast enough was how they were sold: sized off square footage, installed by one trade with the electrical subcontracted, and rebates left for the homeowner to figure out. So we built the shop the other way around. Manual J first. Cold-climate units only. Red Seal HVAC, TSSA gas and ESA electrical all in-house. A rebate coordinator whose whole job is getting the audits in the right order and the applications submitted.
